Prepare your USB

Insert a USB stick of at least 8 GB into your Windows computer. Open the downloaded file, check that the correct USB is selected, and follow the instructions.

▰Ready USB→▥Dedicated server

Start your server

Wait for the green “Done!” message. Move the USB to your dedicated server computer, connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable, and start it from the USB.

Preparing the USB does not replace Windows on the computer used to create it. The server installation starts when you boot the dedicated server from that USB.

A little help before you begin.

What do I need?

A Windows computer to prepare the USB, a USB stick of at least 8 GB, and a dedicated 64-bit UEFI computer with internal storage and an Ethernet connection. RAID needs at least two internal drives. Save any files you want to keep somewhere else first.

Does RAID give me twice the space?

No. Both drives keep the same files. Two 2 TB drives provide about 2 TB of usable space. With different drive sizes, the smaller drive determines the mirrored capacity.

How do I start a computer from USB?

Insert the prepared USB and restart your dedicated server computer. Open its boot menu and select the UEFI USB option. The boot-menu key depends on the computer; check its manufacturer's instructions.

Can I use this to update an existing server?

This page describes a fresh installation. If you already have MV Home installed, follow the update instructions supplied with your release before proceeding.

Where do I download the installation file?

Choose Standard or Mirrored RAID 1 above. Google Drive opens in a new tab; select Download and wait for the full file to finish. Mirrored RAID 1 is a beta release.
